    Position:                 Assistant Coach, Boys Soccer; Temporary (multiple positions)
    Work Site:              Ashland High School 
    Hours/FTE:            2-8 hours per day during season
    Salary:                   $4,029 - $4,978 (2025-26 Salary Schedule; 2026-27 Salary Schedule to be determined)
     
    JOB SUMMARY
    Under the direction of a head coach, teaches and coaches students who desire to excel in sports and provides them with the opportunity for advanced study and participation under expert guidance in an environment conducive to learning.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

    1. Holds or assists organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
    2. Teaches all of the skills necessary to participate in the sport.
    3. Teaches the strategies necessary to participate in the sport.
    4. Teaches the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina, and speed in the sport.
    5. Assists in the development of seasonal goals and objectives and daily practice plans.
    6. Assists in the development of lines of communications with parents, officials, and booster clubs to promote the sport.
    7. Supervises locker room before and after practice, as required.
    8. Supervises bus trips, as required.
    9. Complies with all athletic association regulations, league rules, and District policies.
    10. Attends coaching clinics, as requested by building principal, athletic coordinator, or head coach.
    11. Follows specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and District.
    12. Actively encourages student participation.
    13. Promotes the ethical values of athletics.
    14. Maintains a positive working relationship with the head coach, administration, other staff, and the community that enhances the sport.
    15. Assists with the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
    16. Promotes concept of sportsmanship.
    17. Develops positive health and safety standards for all athletes in the program.
    18. Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required.     • Certification: OSAA Coaches Education Program
    • Previous experience coaching in the sport and solid leadership skills strongly desired.
    • Valid first aid/CPR card is required.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others, including understanding and being understood. While much of the work will be completed in an office environment, the employee will need to move between buildings, visiting sites throughout the district. This position requires the use of a variety of digital systems, software, and hardware. This position may require some travel outside the district.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but occasionally high depending upon activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
