The Tampa Bay Rowdies Communications department is seeking a director for a full-time position. This individual will lead a team of communications professionals. The department's objectives are to preserve an exceptional reputation for the Rowdies brand, increase awareness of the Rowdies, drive credibility for our club’s business and sporting operations, and develop strategies for player storytelling through traditional communication channels and digital media.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and manage the Rowdies PR strategy to deliver measurable growth
2. Collaborate with department leads, including ticket sales, marketing, and soccer operations, to develop storylines for external use
3. Create business-related press releases to increase positive press on announcements in community relations, ticket sales, marketing, corporate partnerships, broadcasting, etc.
4. Serve as the main point of contact with the media and broadcast team for all home and select road games; handle media requests and create press materials
5. Build strong relationships with key local, regional, and national media contacts
6. Lead and manage the social media team to meet engagement, growth, and monetization goals
7. Oversee the creation and distribution of content across all social media platforms
8. Develop strategic social media plans for our internal digital team to enhance campaigns throughout the season
9. Collaborate closely with the internal content-creation team to ensure that all social media content aligns with the Rowdies brand and messaging
10. Develop the strategic direction, programming, and oversee the execution of Rowdies video content
11. Manage the video content process from ideation through delivery, including creative briefs and treatments
12. Provide leadership in developing and implementing cross-platform strategies for video content, aligned with departmental goals to maximize revenues and exposure
13. Establish communication best practices, tools, and protocols to enhance internal operations and external outreach
14. Oversee departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning to ensure efficient and effective communications operations
15. Manage and support a small communications team, providing mentorship and professional development
Qualifications
1. Prior sports experience in media relations or sports information, as well as an understanding of digital media
2. Strong understanding of the foundations of belonging and experience, facilitating principles and standards
3. Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
5. Spanish fluency favored
6. Detail- and deadline-oriented
7. Highly motivated and well organized
8. Strong knowledge of professional soccer
9. Flexibility to travel and adjust hours to work home games and other events, including weekends and holidays
