Position Overview
The Hartford Athletic Youth Academy is seeking a Soccer Operations Coordinator Intern who will work directly with Ross Peebles (Academy Director of Coaching and Curriculum) to support the development and execution of soccer-specific programming as the club builds out its academy operations. This hands-on role provides invaluable experience in coaching support, curriculum implementation, and player development within a professional soccer environment.
Key Responsibilities
Soccer Operations & Coaching Support:
  • Assist Ross Peebles with curriculum planning and session design
  • Support training session setup, execution, and breakdown for academy programs
  • Help coordinate technical aspects of player development initiatives
  • Assist with match day operations for academy games and W-League fixtures
  • Support video analysis and player evaluation processes
  • Maintain training equipment inventory and organization
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of specialized technical clinics and camps
Player Development & Experience:
  • Assist in player pathway coordination between academy levels
  • Support player evaluation and tracking systems
  • Assist with tryout and identification event coordination
  • Help document training methodologies and best practices
Program Development:
  • Contribute to the buildout of academy curriculum and programming structure
  • Assist in creating training resources and coaching materials
  • Support the development of operational procedures for soccer-specific activities
  • Help coordinate integration between academy programs and W-League operations
  • Assist with scheduling of training sessions, matches, and development activities
Administrative Support:
  • Maintain soccer operations databases and player records
  • Coordinate with families regarding soccer-specific programming
  • Assist with match reports and technical documentation
  • Support registration processes for camps, clinics, and academy programs
  • Help prepare materials for coaching staff meetings and player development reviews
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in Sports Management, Coaching Education, or related field
  • Strong soccer knowledge with playing or coaching experience preferred
  • Understanding of player development principles and age-appropriate training methodologies
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with video analysis software a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for training sessions, matches, and events
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
