Head Coach for Varsity Girls Soccer

St. Mary Academy – Bay View has an immediate opening for a Head Coach of its Varsity Girls Soccer team.

Position Overview:

The Head Coach for Varsity Girls Soccer plans, directs, and supervises all aspects of the Varsity Soccer Program in accordance with the RIIL, Athletic Department and school policies. S/he oversees the physiological and skill development of student-athletes in the program. Further, s/he develops each student participant to maximum potential in a program of skill, learning, and improvements. The soccer season runs from the middle of August to the beginning of November. Practices are typically 5-6 days with practice times around 3:30-5:30 p.m. or 4-6 p.m. and 2-3 games a week at 4 or 4:30 p.m. Note: Coaches receive some tuition remission for daughters who attend Bay View.

Examples of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

● Assumes responsibility for organizing, coaching, and administering the full Varsity Soccer Program;

● Follows the policies and procedures in the Athletic Handbook;

● Follows sound coaching practices in teaching all skills, including aspects of health and safety;

● Assumes responsibility for equipment inventory;

● Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior;

● Promotes and encourages maximum student participation and behavior;

● Provides leadership and guidance to the Assistant Coach;

● Develops game plans which are flexible and adaptable to changing game strategies; and

● Assumes responsibility for the end-of-season report. Qualifications:

● Dedication to the school, student-athlete, and to the Athletic Program;

● Comprehensive knowledge of the sport and the ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills;

● Ability to motivate the student-athlete to maximum potential;

● Professional in appearance and actions;

● Prior experience as a Varsity Soccer Head Coach or Collegiate playing experience preferred;

● NFHS Certified or willingness to become certified including CPR/First Aid/AED; and

● The candidate will be required to pass a national background check with fingerprints.
