Senior Director, Facility Operations

Minnesota United
Full-time
On-site
St. Paul, Minnesota, United States
$85,000 - $115,000 USD yearly
Professional Soccer, Director, Facilities & Maintenance
Position:
The Senior Director of Facility Operations is part of the Stadium Operations department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Position Summary:
Minnesota United FC is looking for a Senior Director of Facility Operations to oversee facility operations at Allianz Field, ensuring the stadium operates at a world-class level.
As a key leader in the Stadium Operations team, you’ll manage day-to-day building operations and preventative maintenance programs to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all. You’ll also play a key role in developing your team and upholding the high standards that define how we operate. We’re looking for someone who brings a high level of expertise, sweats the details, and a people-first mindset — someone who leads with consistency and care.
Why You’ll Love It Here:
At Minnesota United, we believe our people matter — and that includes the people who keep our Club running behind the scenes. In this role, your impact will ripple far and wide — from the players in the locker room, to the fans in the stands, to every staff member who counts on a safe and reliable place to work.
We lead with empathy, sweat the details, and show up for each other — day in and day out. If you take pride in a building that works as hard as the people in it, thrive on solving problems before they happen, and find fulfillment in helping others do their best work, we’d love to welcome you to the team.

What You’ll Do:
Facility Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day building operations across all stadium systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, hydronic heating, and life safety equipment
  • Build and maintain operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal codes
  • Manage and ensure timely completion of all required building inspections
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and work order systems in partnership with the Facility Maintenance Manager
  • Support the development and maintenance of building operating procedures in partnership with the Facility Operations Manager
Department Leadership
  • Hire, train, and develop a high-performing operations and maintenance staff
  • Create a team culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Facilitate ongoing training in building operations, safety, and emergency procedures
Capital Projects & Stadium Upgrades
  • Lead capital planning and oversee execution of infrastructure repairs, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements
  • Partner with internal departments to coordinate installations, signage updates, seating enhancements, and other stadium projects
Vendor and Contract Oversight
  • Manage external service contracts, including: housekeeping, waste management, pest control, signage, snow removal, elevator maintenance, and more
  • Build strong relationships with service partners and hold them to our shared standards of excellence
Budget Management
  • Develop and manage the facility operations budget, including staffing, utilities, and contract services
  • Monitor utility usage and forecast needs across fiscal years
Support Beyond Allianz Field
  • Provide operational guidance and support for other MNUFC properties, including our training facility and front office building
  • Contribute to long-term planning across all Club facilities
Sustainability
  • Lead environmentally responsible initiatives throughout the stadium and surrounding campus
  • Collaborate on innovative solutions to reduce our impact and improve efficiency
Other Responsibilities
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to support facility operations and organizational needs
What You’ll Bring:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in facility operations or building management
  • Expertise in managing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and automated building systems
  • Strong understanding of building codes, compliance standards, and safety protocols
  • Proven leadership experience — with the ability to guide, grow, and support a diverse team
  • Excellent communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documents with confidence
  • A solutions-first mindset and the ability to stay composed under pressure
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify issues, analyze complex situations, and implement effective solutions
Physical Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be comfortable working in a hands-on, dynamic environment.

This includes:
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs
  • Working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Operating in both indoor and outdoor settings, in all types of Minnesota weather
