After-school Soccer Coach

SCOPE

South Bronx United is seeking coaches for its community soccer program that not only want to share the joy of playing soccer, but also want to use the sport to help program youth build character (teamwork, discipline, empathy, etc).

South Bronx United runs after school practices for boys and girls ages 6-14, 4 days a week at a number of local schools and non profits. Coaching sessions range in time from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the site. Current partner sites include Girls Prep Elementary, Boys Prep Elementary, and the Rafael Hernandez Dual Language School, all located in the Bronx. Coaches commit to at least one session a week but there is potential to work 4 days a week.

SCHEDULE

Tuesdays-Fridays. Exact time varies by day/site but all sites run within 3pm-5:30pm.

LOCATION

One of four current locations:

Rev. T Wendell Foster Park, Jerome Avenue at 165th St

Girls Prep Elementary, 681 Kelly St

Rafael Hernandez Dual Language (WhedCo), 1220 Gerard Ave

COMMITMENT

Coaches must be able to commit to being present for at least a school semester (Sept-Dec or Jan-June) on at least one day a week (T-F).

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous coaching experiences is preferred but not required if you have experience working with kids and a background in the sport.

BENEFITS

Coaches receive $20-30/hr depending on experience. In addition to helping provide the resources and support to allow underserved and under-resourced youth the opportunity to participate in a safe, structured environment, coaches will have opportunities for coaching trainings and will be connected to a network of caring staff and volunteers for fun soccer related events throughout the year.
