    TITLE:            Assistant Coach

    REPORTS TO:        The Head Coach

    JOB GOALS:    To assist the Head Coach to help each participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

    QUALIFICATIONS:    

        Appropriate valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate or Coaching Certificate
        Completion of a successful background check.
        Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices
        Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements
        Knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to the area being coached and ability to deal effectively with co-workers, athletes, administers and the public.
        Any additional qualifications which may be required for a particular sports.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
        Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
        Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
        Coaches, under the direction of the Head Coach, individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sports involved.
        Assist with the planning and scheduling of regular program of practice.
        Assist in over-seeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the activity is being held.
        Assist in enforcing discipline and sportsman like behavior among participants in the sport activity.
        Attend Booster Club meeting as directed by the Head Coach
        Attend all meetings arranged by the Head Coach.
        Be familiar with and follow the guidelines established in Ohio County Board of Education Regulation 4020.01.
        Perform other duties as assigned.


    Terms of Employment:  Length of employment term varies according to sport.
