TITLE:            Assistant Coach

REPORTS TO:        The Head Coach

JOB GOALS:    To assist the Head Coach to help each participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

•    Appropriate valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate or Coaching Certificate
•    Completion of a successful background check.
•    Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices
•    Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements
•    Knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to the area being coached and ability to deal effectively with co-workers, athletes, administers and the public.
•    Any additional qualifications which may be required for a particular sports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
•    Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
•    Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
•    Coaches, under the direction of the Head Coach, individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sports involved.
•    Assist with the planning and scheduling of regular program of practice.
•    Assist in over-seeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the activity is being held.
•    Assist in enforcing discipline and sportsman like behavior among participants in the sport activity.
•    Attend Booster Club meeting as directed by the Head Coach
•    Attend all meetings arranged by the Head Coach.
•    Be familiar with and follow the guidelines established in Ohio County Board of Education Regulation 4020.01.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:  Length of employment term varies according to sport.
