Assistant Groundskeeper

Lexington Sporting Club is looking for a motivated and dependable Assistant Groundskeeper to support our Facilities & Grounds team in maintaining exceptional playing surfaces across all club programs. This position assists with the care, preparation, and daily upkeep of both natural grass and synthetic fields used by our professional, academy, and community teams, ensuring they are safe, visually outstanding, and competition-ready.

- Assist with the daily maintenance of natural grass and synthetic turf fields, including mowing, watering, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, edging, and divoting.

- Prepare matchday playing surfaces to professional standards, including field layout, line painting, and equipment setup.

- Monitor field conditions and report turf health issues, hazards, or repair needs to the Head Groundskeeper.

- Operate, inspect, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper coverage and efficient water usage.

- Assist with pest, weed, and disease control treatments as directed.

- Help implement seasonal agronomic programs for optimal turf performance. 

-Safely operate groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, utility vehicles, aerators, sprayers, and hand tools.

-Perform basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, and storage.

-Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.

- Assist with matchday field preparation, tear-down, and post-match recovery tasks.

- Support special events at the stadium and training facility, including field protection setup and removal.

- Work collaboratively with facilities, operations, and event staff to ensure smooth execution of club events.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of grounds facilities, storage areas, and equipment.

- Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by team schedules.

- Support a positive workplace culture through professionalism, teamwork, and communication.

Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, turf management, or a related field.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with turf equipment.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Preferred
- Associate degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Sports Turf Management, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience working with sports fields, particularly soccer fields.
- Experience with irrigation systems and turfgrass pest management.
- Knowledge of MLS/USL field standards (or willingness to learn).

Working Conditions
- Majority of work performed outdoors on athletic fields.
- May include long hours on matchdays and during peak maintenance periods.
- Exposure to fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment noise (PPE provided).
