Position Description
Managing competition-related roles performed by U.S. Soccer as the sport’s National Governing Body, the Competition staff oversees sanctioning of International Games and the administration of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, U.S. Soccer’s National Championship. Reporting to the Manager of Competitions, the Competition Coordinator interfaces with a wide range of business contacts including FIFA and Concacaf, other FIFA Member Associations, Match Agents and Promoters, professional leagues and teams, and soccer clubs that participate in U.S. Soccer competitions.
Primary Responsibilities
Competition Management
Assist in the daily administration and organization of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and other competitions. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Work with internal function areas and external partners to ensure successful tournament operations
-Provide administrative support to the Adjudication & Discipline process
-Be an expert on tournament regulations and the structure of all levels of adult amateur and professional soccer in the U.S
-Be an expert in using the Competition Management Platform
-Assist the Competitions Staff in overseeing tournament operation, especially on match nights
International Games Sanctioning
-Process expense reports for match officials and maintain records of expenses.
-Work closely with accounting team on invoices and expenses.
-Serve as a first point of contact relating to International Games with Concacaf, FIFA and match promoters including management of the International Games inbox
-Assist the Competitions Manager with the administration process for the sanctioning of International Games within U.S. Soccer’s territory from application process to close out including but not limited to:
-Be an expert on and comply with all FIFA and Concacaf regulations and processes governing International Games
- Support the overall Events Department by staffing U.S. Soccer events if and when required
