Position Description
The Fan Engagement Coordinator plays a vital support role on the Fan Engagement team, assisting with the ideation, planning, logistics, and execution of fan-focused experiences across matchdays, grassroots events, and special initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Fan Engagement Strategy and Experiences, this role ensures operational excellence, delivering memorable and emotionally resonant activations that bring the U.S. Soccer brand to life and support fan growth, enhancing fan experiences, passion, sentiment, engagement and ticket sales goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Fan Engagement & Experience Operations
- Collaborate closely with the Fan Engagement Strategy and Experiences Manager to execute strategies that enhance both matchday and non-matchday experiences — fostering emotional connection, igniting passion, and driving fandom growth by blending world-class entertainment with authentic soccer culture and fan-first experiences.
- Support fan research efforts by collecting data on engagement trends and activation performance.
- Maintain records of activation best practices, operational workflows, and post-event reports.
- Support other duties as assigned related to fan engagement and matchday operations.
Event & Matchday Activation Support
- Assist in the planning and execution of fan engagement activations, matchday experiences, and grassroots initiatives to enhance fan interaction. (Including Fan HQ, Block Parties, Gate Giveaways, and thematic fan experience zones.)
- Coordinate logistics for fan zones, on-site activations, and experiences, ensuring smooth setup, operation, and teardown.
- Maintain activation assets and ensure inventory, signage, and branded materials are event-ready and aligned with brand standards.
- Serve as a key liaison with internal departments, vendors, and external partners to align on event planning and execution.
- Serve as an on-site point of contact during events, ensuring all activations run smoothly and resolving any operational challenges.
- Be able to travel 100% of the US Soccer matches.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with internal teams (Events, Production, Media Partnerships, Marketing, DEI, Insiders, and Supporter Groups) to ensure smooth operational flow across all fan touchpoints.
- Manage event logistics, assisting in staffing coordination, credentialing, and vendor scheduling for activation days. Manage event logistics, including shipping, and inventory of activation materials.
- Work closely with marketing and content teams to promote activations through digital and social channels.
- Assist with asset delivery and on-site execution with Affiliate/Stations I collaboration with the Media Partnership team
- Support in the ideation and execution of ticketing promotions, giveaways, and special fan engagement initiatives to drive attendance and engagement.
- Coordinate with brand, legal and compliance teams to secure necessary approvals for activations.
Grassroots & Community Engagement Operations
- Support execution of in-market activations that build community ties and promote key initiatives like DEI nights and World Cup events.
- Coordinate logistics for watch parties, youth/school activations, and Fan Appreciation Week.
- Assist with community outreach, supporters group integration, and grassroots events.
Project Management & Communication
- Maintain and track timelines for multiple fan engagement projects using shared calendars and project management tools.
- Help build and distribute activation briefs, recap documents, and internal reports.
- Organize and manage check-ins with vendors and collaborators to ensure all deliverables are met.
- Coordinate logistics for fan groups activations, ensuring an inclusive and vibrant matchday atmosphere.
- Assist in creating pre-event briefings, production schedules, and run-of-show documents.
- Monitor and track engagement metrics, fan feedback, and event performance to provide insights and recommendations for future enhancements.
- Assist in managing event budgets, invoices, and vendor contracts related to activations and experiences.
Performance Tracking & Fan Insights
- Collect and organize fan feedback from surveys and on-site interactions; work with the Insights team to support post-event reporting.
- Document and analyze key learnings from each event to improve future operations and activations
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Event Operations, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in fan engagement, event activations, or operations in the sports and entertainment industry
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working on live events, game-day operations, or fan activations is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to think creatively and problem-solve in real-time event environments
- Passion for soccer and a deep understanding of fan culture and engagement trends
- Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with project management tools preferred
