Description

The successful candidate will assist the head coach in the organization and management of a competitive NCAA Division III women's soccer program, including serving as the head coach for the William Smith Soccer Development Team and the Recruiting Coordinator for the entire WS soccer program. The William Smith Soccer program is comprised of two teams- varsity and development. The position responsibilities will include recruiting prospective students; teaching and coaching student-athletes for successful competition; supporting student-athletes' academic success; player development; cultivating alumni and parent relations; team travel planning; administrative tasks; and other duties as assigned. Essential Responsibilities: Development Team Head Coach: In consultation with the head coach, design and implement the philosophy of the development team to be integrated into all practices and games, fitting within the overall philosophy of the William Smith soccer program. This includes all match-day preparation, lineup decisions and in-game adjustments Hold at least one DT specific team film session a week, when applicable Build and execute development team practice and game schedule, with approval from head coach. Lead all communication and practice planning for development team Manage all travel logistics, equipment needs, and supervision of any volunteer assistant coaches for development team Integrate mental skills into training, teach focus skills, improve communication and create an environment that promotes strong team chemistry Operate digital platforms to develop training, practice and game plans Maintain an exemplary standard of conduct, which reflects the highest level of professionalism and good judgment Be knowledgeable of and compliant with all institutional, department, NCAA and conference policies, rules and regulations Recruiting: Serve as the recruiting coordinator for William Smith soccer- varsity and development teams alongside all other staff members Effectively recruit prospective student-athletes under the direction of the head coach and consistent with the mission of HWS. This includes recruiting travel. Maintain the sport-specific recruiting electronic database, recruiting logs, visit calendars Coordinate on-campus visits and junior days; develop home visit recruiting presentations Oversee all aspects of creative video operations related to recruiting and social media Coordinate prospect camps and recruiting clinics Recruit student-athletes who coincide with the academic profile of HWS students Maintain open communication with other William Smith coaches regarding shared prospects Counseling and Advisement of Student-Athletes: Provide individual meetings outside of practice time with all development team players throughout the season. Conduct post-season individual meetings with all development team players. Develop and maintain effective communication with student-athletes Reinforce academic success as a priority Encourage student-athletes to foster a positive relationship with faculty, deans and staff perform the requirements as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. §1092 (f) (Clery Act). Professional Development: Maintain active membership in professional sport organizations Pursue formal and informal educational opportunities Participate in William Smith Peak Performance and other educational seminars/trainings Community Engagement/Fundraising Promote the sport and HWS Athletics in area communities Maintain a positive relationship with interested constituents (e.g. youth groups, civic organizations, media) Develop a positive relationship with William Smith alumnae and parents Coordinate prospect camps and recruiting clinics Other Department Responsibilities (approximately 20% of full-time responsibilities): Serve on Athletics Department operational teams as a game day manager (sport to be assigned by Associate AD for Events) Other Information: This is a full-time, 10-month, benefits-eligible position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Evening and weekend work are required. Varsity and Development team practices may at times be scheduled simultaneously. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. A minimum of 2-4 years of soccer coaching experience at the college-level strongly preferred. A minimum of 4-5 years of combined coaching/playing experience at the college level required. Candidates must demonstrate strong potential to teach, lead and counsel college student-athletes and have enthusiasm for the recruiting duties of the position. The candidate must be a person of integrity, high ethical standards, have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and mission of William Smith Athletics. Competence with technology resources and a current U.S. driver's license are vital to fulfilling the responsibilities of this position. CPR and First Aid certification required (may be obtained at HWS).
