Director of Coaching and Education

OVERVIEW  

We are seeking a professional and forward thinking soccer expert to join our team. This important role is designed for someone who has a strong background in coach and membership education, creating in-house education systems and supporting external education opportunities to optimize coach and player development.

Also desirable, is a passion for the girls game with a goal to progress our girls programming through the lens of player development, player retention, and player pathways.

Our club  has an opportunity to establish a complete player pathway on the boys and girls side that competes at all levels.

This role needs someone who is able to work evenings, weekends and office hours, in line with the demands of the youth soccer industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE ARE LISTED BELOW:

COACH DEVELOPMENT

Collaborate with Program Directors to recruit, hire, develop and retain coaches for all programs from Juniors to Elite, including teams U5-U19.

Collaborate with the Sporting Director and Program Directors to plan, lead and execute whole staff in-house Coaching Education events such as Fall and Spring season ‘kick-offs’.

Identify coaching groups to provide specific coaching education support, relevant to the program and coaching experience of the groups. Examples include; intro to coaching, young coaches, advanced coaches, volunteer coaches.

Develop initiatives for coaches to ‘learn on the job’ and create incentives for coaches to improve their coaching delivery to enhance player experience. 

Create measureables for coaches to grow and develop in their coaching career.

Support and direct coaches in their pursuit for external coaching education opportunities, for example US Soccer licensing and USC courses.

Be present at training sessions during fall, winter and spring seasons, using our training environment as a learning tool for coaches. Create a schedule during these times to support coaches in the planning, delivery and reflection of training sessions to aid their growth and development.

During the playing seasons, use game days to support, evaluate and collaborate with coaches on their game-day coaching and management of their environment.

Work with the Sporting Director and Executive Director  to develop and oversee the club’s in-house Coaches Summit, aiming to bring in top Regional and National talent to provide another coaching education source for those in and outside of the club.

Create strong relationships with CSA to identify coaching education opportunities through the state organization to bring to our local and surrounding communities. For example, hosting US soccer licenses at our facilities, increasing the accessibility for our club coaches.

MEMBERSHIP EDUCATION

Develop a framework to best communicate with parents and players on all things youth soccer.

Work with the marketing team to ‘tell the soccer story’ of the club.

Strategize on target topics to engage members, develop trust, give transparency and gain understanding.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AND OVERSIGHT

Collaborate with the Sporting Director and Soccer Staff to evolve and progress the club’s ‘game model’, ‘long-term development plan’ and ‘curriculum’ as it becomes the framework related to playing identity, player development and coach education.

Work with the Sporting Director and Executive Director to design and plan for all soccer program offerings at the club, from grassroots to Elite.

Work with the Sporting Director and Executive Director to deliver a cohesive player development plan, including player evaluations. Oversee player ID and annual placement (tryouts) events.

CLUB AND COACHING ADMINISTRATION

Manage Program Directors to work productivity, efficiency and with fulfillment, creating measurable goals.

Continually seek to streamline processes and systems for better productivity. 

Be comfortable dealing with conflict and problem solving to develop a cohesive staff.

Facilitate and/or support conversation and conflict resolution between parents, coaches and players as appropriate and needed.

 Actively participate in the strategic planning for the club’s annual budget.

Manage a budget for internal and external coach education. 

Plan and organize the staff attendance for the Conventions and summits.

Use technologies such as ALBION Connect, Hudl Coaches Voice, Sports Session Planner and Sports Recruits as tools to enhance experiences.

CLUB LEADERSHIP

Monitor and understand the youth soccer landscape and use this knowledge to inform staff and membership.

Use our club as a vehicle to push the game forwards in the local community and beyond through increasing participation and playing opportunities.

Assist the Club with duties and tasks that may be required, but not outlined above.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

USSF B License or equivalent.

Experience coaching high-level youth soccer.

Experience in a Club Director or Leadership role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

USSF A License or equivalent.

USSF Coach Educator License.

USSF Club Technical Leadership License.

8+ years experience coaching high-level youth soccer.

5+ years experience in a  Club Director or Leadership role.
