Position Summary: Director of Coaching- Soccer will be responsible for supporting coach and athlete development in the travel soccer program at NPSC. The travel soccer program consists of boys and girls teams at the U9 through U19 age groups.Β
Key Responsibilities:
Coach and Contractor Recruitment, Development & Oversight Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate travel soccer coaches and oversee contractors engaged by the Club to support the travel soccer program. Establish performance expectations and standards, conduct seasonal evaluations, monitor coach licensing and SafeSport/background-check requirements, and coordinate appropriate coaching education and professional development.
Player Identification, Placement & Development Oversee tryouts, player evaluations, and team placements to establish balanced and competitive teams; develop age-appropriate player development benchmarks and evaluation metrics; maintain knowledge of player strengths, weaknesses, and skills; and establish and refine a clear pathway for player development within the Club.
Travel Program Structure & Technical Direction Develop and implement a consistent coaching philosophy and player development model for the travel program; establish appropriate league levels, tournament participation, and program expectations; and provide the technical leadership necessary to bring standardization, consistency, and stability to the Club's travel soccer program.
Coach, Contractor & Parent Communication Plan and lead preseason and seasonal coaches meetings; attend all preseason parent meetings; and work collaboratively with coaches and contractors to address parent concerns and player-related issues in a professional, constructive, and solutions-oriented manner.
Team, Tournament, & Player Recruitment Administration Assist with player recruitment; roster teams and players in GotSport; register teams for tournaments; communicate with tournament directors; and ensure required administrative and compliance responsibilities are completed accurately and timely.
Performance Management & Professional Leadership Establish measurable standards for coaching, contractor performance, and player development; conduct written seasonal evaluations of travel coaches and evaluate the effectiveness of contracted services; maintain strong working relationships with coaches, contractors, players, and families; and demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, communication skills, and collaborative leadership in all aspects of the position.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to pass SafeSport and a background check
USSF-C License or higher
Understanding of player development principles
Ability to assess and provide feedback to coaches and athletes
Strong time management skills
Ability to effectively communicate with parents, coaches, and athletes
Strong conflict resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with a youth sports organization or soccer club
USSF-B License
3-5 years of experience as a travel soccer coach.
1-2 years of experience as a soccer program coordinator.
Familiarity with PlayMetrics and Google Workspace.
