Position Summary

The High School Girls Soccer Coach is responsible for leading a competitive, educationally-based athletic program that supports the academic, social, and athletic development of student-athletes. The coach will promote sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and a positive school culture while adhering to all school, district, league, and MIAA policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Program Leadership

Plan, organize, and lead all practices, games, and team activities.

Develop and implement age-appropriate training plans focused on technical skills, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and mental preparation.

Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture.

Player Development

Teach and reinforce fundamental and advanced soccer skills.

Provide constructive feedback to help student-athletes improve individually and collectively.

Promote multi-sport participation and long-term athlete development.

Game Management

Make in-game tactical decisions aligned with team philosophy and player safety.

Manage substitutions fairly and transparently.

Demonstrate professionalism and composure toward officials, opponents, and spectators.

Communication & Collaboration

Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administrators, and athletic staff.

Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and other coaches within the program.

Support feeder programs (youth, middle school, JV/Varsity alignment where applicable).

Student-Athlete Welfare

Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants.

Monitor injuries and follow all concussion and return-to-play protocols.

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.

Administrative Responsibilities

Enforce school and team rules consistently.

Maintain attendance, eligibility, and equipment accountability.

Complete required trainings (e.g., CPR/AED, First Aid, concussion education, MIAA rules).

Attend required meetings, clinics, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

Knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and skill development.

Ability to work effectively with high school-aged student-athletes.

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Completion of all school district, MIAA, and state coaching requirements.

Preferred

Prior coaching experience at the high school or club level.

Playing experience at the high school, collegiate, or competitive club level.

Compensation

Stipend based on district contract and coaching position.
