Head Girls Soccer Coach 2026-27 Season

Job Title: Head Coach – High School Girls Soccer
Location: Mercer County High School
Reports To: Athletic Director

Position Summary:
Mercer County High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Head Girls Soccer Coach to lead and develop a competitive and character-driven soccer program. The ideal candidate will foster athletic excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth while maintaining a positive and inclusive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the girls soccer program, including practices, games, and offseason development
• Develop student-athletes’ skills, discipline, and understanding of the game
• Promote academic success and monitor student-athlete eligibility and progress
• Establish and maintain a culture of respect, accountability, and teamwork
• Coordinate with assistant coaches and provide leadership and mentorship
• Organize game strategies, player development plans, and conditioning programs
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic association policies
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in coordination with the athletic department
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
• Support and promote the soccer program within the school and local community

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
• Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategies, and training techniques
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Commitment to student-athlete development both on and off the field
• Must meet all state and district coaching certification requirements (including CPR/First Aid, if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior head coaching experience
• Experience working in a school setting
• Teaching certification (if applicable for combined roles)

Work Schedule:

• Seasonal position with year-round program development responsibilities
• Practices and games primarily occur after school hours and may include weekends and travel

Compensation:

• Stipend based on district coaching pay scale
