The  University of Maine at Presque Isle  invites applications for the position of  Head Men’s Soccer Coach . Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation, this 12-month, full-time role is responsible for all aspects of leading a competitive NCAA Division III program. 

In addition to coaching, the successful candidate will serve as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor, providing vital mentorship to student-leaders and essential support to the broader Athletics Department. We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional dedicated to excellence in recruitment, retention, academic success, and the holistic development of student-athletes, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Head Coach include, but are not limited to, the following: Coaching and Player Development ? Serve as the head coach for men’s soccer, providing daily coaching during practices and meets. ? Utilize current and specific theory and techniques toward optimally training student-athletes to reach their fullest potential. ? Teach appropriate skills, game/competition tactics, and strategies, while using effective techniques for skill and movement analysis. ? Make appropriate coaching decisions during competitions and acquire specific practice/training and competition plans. ? Motivate, discipline, and lead athletes toward their highest possible achievements while maintaining a disciplined team in conduct and appearance, on and off the field. Recruitment and Retention ? Build the athletic program/team through a robust recruiting plan for identifying, contacting, and communicating with high school and transfer athletes. ? Conduct on-campus visits for potential student-athletes. ? Work toward recruitment goals discussed with the supervisor and in collaboration with Admissions to ensure healthy roster sizes that meet or exceed NCAA minimum requirements. Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities ? Serve as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

? Being accountable for all financial matters and reporting of expenses related to travel, equipment, and other team expenses; remain punctual with paperwork and receipts. ? Plan for preseason, season, and postseason activities and define a competitive NCAA Division III schedule within budget constraints. ? Monitor athletic eligibility and academic standing of student-athletes, maintaining an academic-priority approach. ? Serve on university or departmental committees as assigned. ? Attend professional meetings, special events, and public functions to represent the department and university. Departmental and Community Support ? Assist with game management duties and other game event responsibilities as assigned in winter and spring sports seasons. ? Collaborate and work closely with athletic department staff, leadership, admissions, facilities, and other university departments. ? Establish public relations links locally and state-wide to increase the visibility of the program; conduct team fundraisers and community service opportunities. ? Pursue professional development through clinics, classes, conferences, and involvement with professional associations. Other duties as assigned, based on university needs and departmental requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities: Men’s soccer assistant coaches and game day work study students. The salary for this full time on campus position is $47,000.00. The university will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion depending on skills and experience.
