Reports to: Director of Athletics

Schedule: Seasonal

Salary: $2,324 - $5,113 per season, based upon relevant prior experience

POSITION SUMMARY: The JV Boys Soccer Coach will foster player growth, sportsmanship, and teamwork while emphasizing fundamental skills and competitive play.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned

• Teach fundamental and advanced soccer skills, techniques, and strategies
• Conduct structured and engaging practices
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes growth and sportsmanship
• Work closely with the varsity coach to align coaching philosophies and team goals
• Develop lineups and strategies for JV matches
• Supervise athletes during matches, practices, and team events
• Communicate effectively with parents, players, and school administration
• Organize team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and scheduling
• Assist in fundraising and community outreach
• Commitment to regular and predictable attendance
• Adherence to Greenville Public Schools core values: integrity, collaboration, compassion, and responsibility

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous coaching or playing experience in soccer
• Strong knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, and strategies
• Ability to motivate and mentor student athletes
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of MHSAA policies preferred
• Satisfactory background check

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The employee must be able to:

• Stand for extended periods during practices and games
• Sit for extended periods on buses for away games and tournaments
• Perform and demonstrate soccer skills and movements such as positioning and footwork
• Move up and down the field, observe players, and actively engage with them
• React quickly in fast-paced game play and to ensure player safety
• Lift and move soccer balls, goals, training gear, and other equipment (typically up to 25-50 lbs)
• Project voice loudly and clearly in noisy environments
• Maintain composure under stress
