POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Depot Manager to assist with the planning, delivery and operations of a world-class transportation operation for a major international sporting event. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role, ideal for professionals with a passion for large-scale event operations.

As the Manager of the Depot team, you will develop plans for the efficient operations of the Depot. Ensuring excellence through comprehensive planning, testing, and operations. Your work will be critical to enabling seamless transport operations that meet the highest international event standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide overall operational leadership for daily depot activities, ensuring effective allocation and deployment of drivers and vehicles in accordance with approved rosters and service plans.
  • Lead and coordinate depot teams to ensure buses are correctly staged, positioned, and sequenced to meet dispatch timelines and operational priorities.
  • Maintain continuous situational awareness across the depot, with a strong focus on vehicle movements, pedestrian safety, depot access control, and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary communication link between drivers, depot supervisors, dispatch, and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.
  • Oversee and authorize adjustments to driver assignments, vehicle allocations, and route or service changes in response to operational requirements or real-time conditions.
  • Implement revised bus operating plans, schedules, and service strategies as directed by senior management and the Transport Operations Center (TROC).
  • Ensure verification of vehicle identification, trip sheets, and dispatch documentation to confirm correct vehicle sequencing and service readiness.
  • Monitor depot performance in real time, identifying delays, incidents, or operational risks and escalating issues promptly to the TROC as required.
  • Lead incident response and initial investigation within the depot, ensuring accurate reporting, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and availability, recognizing the dynamic and time-critical nature of event transport operations and the requirement for extended or irregular shifts.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

  • Represent TMS professionally in meetings, briefings, and coordination forums.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records within company systems.
  • Communicate clearly, promptly, and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be flexible with working hours — this role will require extended hours, weekends, and event-period commitments.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Comprehensive understanding of bus depot operations, layouts, workflows, and staging principles.
  • Working knowledge of driver welfare principles, fatigue management, and duty-of-care obligations.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and manage performance under pressure.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing operational conditions.
  • High level of teamwork, initiative, and resilience in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, dispatch processes, and time-critical transport operations.
  • Familiarity with Kansas City transport corridors, and surrounding road networks is advantageous.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated operational experience in transport, depot, or fleet management roles, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that supports successful performance of the role.
  • Previous experience supporting major events, special events, or large-scale transport operations is highly desirable.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event or match days.
  • Physically capable of working in a depot environment, including prolonged standing and walking, and handling light equipment, barriers, or signage as required.
  • Fluent in English; multilingual or bilingual capability is an advantage.
