Description Of Job Duties
This position has recruiting, leadership, communication, writing, film editing, and coaching components. The Men’s Soccer GA will refine these skills by assisting with recruiting prospective players during their first year with the expectation that they will become recruiting coordinator by the start of their second year. Recruitment activities include: database management, coordinating recruiting visits with the admissions office, meeting with potential recruits, contacting prospective student-athletes via phone, mail, and email, meeting with prospective recruits and their parents, selecting which tournaments or recruiting opportunities will produce the best return and which will not produce an adequate return for coaches to attend, coordinating which staff members will attend tournaments or recruiting opportunities, identifying prospects at games or via video, and contacting appropriate coaches or team representatives for information or references as necessary. Additional duties will be set according to the strengths of the GA and the needs of the soccer program but may include any or all of the following: helping to coach men’s soccer players by performing an array of coaching duties both administratively and on the field to help players grow by meeting individual and team goals, game preparation, scouting, match/player analysis, assist with with video analysis, conducting film sessions, marketing and managing men’s soccer camps or other recruiting events, advising/helping student-athletes to meet academic objectives, assist in game day management and travel planning including driving team mini-buses or vans to away games, assist with equipment inventory and organization, actively encourage leadership and scholarship among student-athletes, monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and advise/assist in their academic support in conjunction with other staff members as needed. The GA will be involved in all aspects of coaching, from designing and leading training to recruiting and monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress. The GA will work in a positive and encouraging environment very closely with the head coach, and will gain invaluable leadership and organization skills.
Job Qualifications
Required: Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College. Experience playing or coaching soccer, or athletic administrative experience. Current CPR / AED and First Aid certification, or eligibility to become current. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Preferred: Experience in college athletics strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record strongly preferred.
