Southern Maine FC (SMFC) is a growing youth soccer club dedicated to developing players in a positive, competitive, and player-centered environment. We are committed to creating meaningful experiences for players of all ages and ability levels while fostering a culture of development, professionalism, accountability, and passion for the game.
SMFC is seeking qualified and motivated Head Soccer Coaches for teams ranging from U8 through U18.
Location: Y ork County & Cumberland County , Maine Employment Type: Seasonal (Fall 2026-Spring 2027 some nights and weekends required) Compensation: $3,500-7,7500 per team (based on experience and licensing); Additional hourly opportunities available for more year round work. Start Date: August 2026 (flexible for the right candidate)
Position Overview
Southern Maine FC is looking for enthusiastic, organized, and development-focused coaches to lead teams within our youth soccer pathway. Coaches will be responsible for planning and leading training sessions, managing games, communicating with families, and supporting the long-term development of players both on and off the field.
Positions are available across multiple age groups:
U8–U12
U13–U18
Both part-time and seasonal coaching opportunities are available.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead age-appropriate training sessions
Coach weekend league games and tournament events
Create a positive and competitive learning environment
Support player development aligned with SMFC methodology and philosophy
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and club leadership
Attend club meetings, coaching education opportunities, and seasonal planning sessions
Promote professionalism, sportsmanship, and player well-being
Assist with player evaluations and seasonal development feedback
Coaching License Requirements
U8–U12 Coaches
Previous coaching experience preferred
Grassroots licenses encouraged
Strong understanding of player development and age-appropriate coaching
U13–U18 Coaches
Minimum US Soccer D License required
C License or higher strongly preferred
Experience coaching competitive youth soccer environments preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Passion for youth player development
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to create engaging and organized training environments
Reliable transportation and schedule flexibility for evenings and weekends
Background check completion in accordance with club and league policies
