Job Description

The Ascension Flight Recreational, Tournament & Social Media Director will lead the entire process of the Recreational program and our 2 annual tournaments. The Recreational Director will oversee the customer service, registration, creation of teams and game schedules for the Flight members. The Flight Tournament Director will oversee the registration, the creation of schedules and all tournament decisions for our Fall and Spring tournaments. In addition to this, the Director will oversee all social media platforms, including creating content, graphics, and media to promote the club, its programs, and events.

The Recreational, Tournament & Social Media Director will be adept in establishing collaborative relationships between Recreational Coaches, players, families and also non-Flight members who will be attending our tournament. Further, they will be able to tactfully and diplomatically handle any and all player, coach and parent situations while upholding the integrity of the Soccer Club. Finally, the Director will bring forward suggestions of improvements to the operating handbook of the Recreational and Tournaments Operations & Administration.

Recreational Director Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure that the programs and services offered by Flight contribute to the club’s mission and reflect the priorities of the Executive Committee.

Oversee the updating and editing of the Recreational Administrative operating handbook.

Lead registration and all customer service inquiries.

Create Recreational Teams and schedules based upon the Flight Bylaws (including, but not limited to, school-based team creation allowing for as many players as possible to participate).

Create a Recreational Game schedule for all teams to achieve their 8 games within the recreational dates provided.

Serve as the lead point of contact for all Recreational members.

Handle conflicts tactfully and diplomatically across all key club stakeholders.

Work with Recreational coaches to identify areas of improvement to help retain coaches.

Collaborate with Flight Administrative Staff and Executive Committee to improve the soccer environment in accordance with the operating handbook.

Deliver and submit an end-of-season evaluation to the Flight Executive Committee, including areas of improvement for the following season (in-season reviews may also be submitted if necessary).

Oversee implementation of all recreational programs within the parameters of the operations handbook.

Tournament Director Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure a smooth and high-quality tournament experience for all participants.

Prioritize the experience of attending teams (e.g., adjusting divisions when appropriate or offering refunds if necessary).

Begin schedule planning as teams register to stay ahead of divisions and bracket formation.

Oversee all tournament logistics including (but not limited to) registration, schedule creation, referees, coordination with the Sheriff’s Office, and all operational needs before, during, and after the tournament.

Handle conflicts tactfully and diplomatically in accordance with tournament rules at all stages.

Work alongside Flight Administrative Staff and Executive Committee to improve tournament operations, including budget management and maximizing profitability.

Deliver and submit an end-of-tournament evaluation to the Executive Committee, including recommendations for improvement.

Social Media Director Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee all Ascension Flight social media platforms (including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant channels).

Develop and execute a consistent content calendar aligned with club programming, events, and key dates.

Create graphics, images, and promotional materials for Recreational programs, tournaments, and club initiatives.

Capture and share content from games, events, and tournaments (photos, videos, highlights, and recaps).

Promote registration periods, tournaments, and club announcements to maximize participation.

Manage engagement across platforms, including responding to messages, comments, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Ensure all content reflects the club’s brand, values, and professionalism.

Collaborate with staff and coaches to highlight players, teams, and club achievements.

Track basic performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth) and provide recommendations for improvement.
