The Classical Academy of Sarasota is looking to hire a Sports Coach (Seasonal Varsity Girls Soccer) for the 2026-2027 school year.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Varsity Girls Soccer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the varsity girls soccer program. This role combines athletic leadership with the school's broader mission of forming students in character, discipline, and virtue through competitive athletics. The Coach will build a program that develops student-athletes both on and off the field, in alignment with the classical education model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and lead all practices, tryouts, and competitions for the girls soccer program
  • Develop a season-long training plan that builds technical skill, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and team cohesion
  • Select team rosters, determine playing time, and manage in-game strategy and substitutions
  • Foster a team culture rooted in sportsmanship, respect, and the school's mission and values (be a “Patriot”)
  • Mentor student-athletes in skill development, leadership, and personal growth
  • Maintain high expectations for athlete conduct, effort, and academic accountability
  • Communicate constructively with players regarding performance, playing time, and goals
  • Serve as a positive role model reflecting the character expectations of the classical academy community
  • Ensure compliance with all league, state athletic association, and school athletic policies
  • Maintain accurate records of eligibility, attendance, and required athletic paperwork
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, and facility/equipment needs
  • Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes at all practices, games, and team activities
  • Report injuries promptly and follow established safety and emergency protocols
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and player progress 
  • Update results of competitions via sports team management application
  • Coordinate with school administration on any disciplinary, eligibility, or safety concerns
  • Represent the program and school professionally with officials, opposing coaches, and the community

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior playing or coaching experience in soccer strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of soccer skills, rules, and strategy at the competitive level
  • Current (or willingness to obtain) CPR/First Aid certification
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Alignment with the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school

Preferred

  • Prior head or assistant coaching experience at the high school or club level
  • Coaching certifications (e.g., state/national soccer coaching association credentials)
  • Experience working with high-school-aged student-athletes in a school or club setting

Background Screening Requirement

  • Subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.

Candidacy Process

Candidates being seriously considered for a position will be invited for an extensive interview process. Final out of state candidates will continue the interviews in Florida at their own expense. Candidates will be interviewed by TCA School administration. The candidate may also be required to perform or provide a model lesson.
