AASA Mission:
The American Amputee Soccer Association has dual missions. One mission is to
promote and develop the sport for the benefit of participants with limb differences. We
look to grow the sport for juniors and adults and for women and men. We look to
accomplish this through outreach programs at the local levels to help interested players
become introduced to the sport, maximize their proficiency, build self confidence, learn
the power of teamwork, and build a strong social network. Our second mission is to
select, develop, and train the elite amputee soccer athlete to represent the United
States in international competition.

Position Description:
The Head Coach for the US Women’s National Amputee Soccer Team will be
responsible for the cultivation and growth of amputee soccer for women and girls in the
United States. This includes organizing, leading and directing the coaching staff to
oversee the development of players in person at training camps and competitions and
remotely while players are at their homes throughout the year to allow the US to
compete at the sport’s highest level. Under direction of the President, the Head Coach
will, in conjunction with the coaching staff, organize national team camps and
competitions including identification of locations for camps, invited athletes to camps
and logistics. In addition to National Team duties, the Head Coach will lead the
development and growth of the AASA’s Women’s Program. This will include recruitment,
skill development, and communication with regional affiliates/other adaptive soccer
programs for talent identification.

A monthly stipend is available commensurate with experience and transportation,
lodging, and meals will be provided for AASA sanctioned training camps and
competitions.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the development of the AASA Women's Program through grassroot and
developmental initiatives:
a. Outreach with regional affiliates/adaptive soccer programs for skill
development, player identification and recruitment
b. Active participation in developing the player pool for our Women's National
Team through grassroots clinics

2. Effectively manage and lead the US Women's National Amputee Soccer Team
environment on and off the field:
a. Design, implement and monitor individualized player development plans
(including the development of soccer IQ with the team through monthly
scheduled virtual team meetings)
b. Oversee the compilation of team records, stats, and video analysis of
matches
c. Sets the training camp calendar and leads all aspects of organization for
the camps
d. Oversees the ordering of supplies and uniforms and other team gear
e. Full authority for the on-field product of the US Women’s National
Amputee Soccer Team

3. Participate in planning and the execution of fundraising and other special
functions

4. Act as a positive ambassador and ensure organizational alignment:
a. Collaborates with the sports medicine team
b. Elevate the standard of coaching through continuous education,
mentorship, and standardized curriculum for the staff.
c. Oversees assistant coaches and recommends staff for approval
d. Sets a professional culture for the staff and players and holds all
accountable
e. Represents the team and organization when required for media or other
requests
f. Provides quarterly reports to the Board of Directors regarding
development and progress of the team, and collaborate with Board of
Directors (BoD) and serve as liaison between BoD and Team members in
regards to fundraising

Minimum Qualifications:
● Ability to travel (domestic and international)
● Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays as
needed
● 3 years of soccer coaching experience
● USSF “D” Certification (or equivalent experience)
● Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills with a full understanding and
commitment to inclusivity and diversity
● Ability to work with and develop staff and players
● Excellent written and verbal communication
● A commitment to the mission and vision of the AASA

Preferred Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher
● Experience working with people with amputation or limb difference
● Experience working with adaptive soccer (or high performance adaptive sports)

● Experience working with amputee soccer
● Knowledge of the rules of amputee soccer
● USSF “C” or higher certification
