Awarded Major League Soccer’s 16th franchise in 2008, the Philadelphia Union officially took the pitch in 2010 and have been raising expectations ever since. ABOUT THE ROLE
**This is not a role with the Philadelphia Union first team, second team, or Academy**
The Philadelphia Union Youth is a premier training program that provides year around clinics, camps and affiliate training. This part-time staff coach position will report directly to the Union Youth Director and provide supplemental training programs including goalkeeper coaching for programs such as camps, clinics and club training. A pivotal part of this role will be to deliver the Union Youth methodology through organized training sessions.
The Union Youth Training Programs are currently looking to add new and experienced coaches to our staff. In conjunction with the Union Youth Director, this individual will assist and provide input into the Union Youth Developmental Curriculum. Core to the role is the ongoing positive promotion of the Philadelphia Union through soccer organizations and communities.

• Pay based on coaching license
• Have had at least 1 year of coaching experience
• Playing experience preferred
WHAT CAMPS & PROGRAMS DO WE OFFER?
Union Youth Soccer Camps & Programs are designed to meet players where they are in terms of development. The camps & programs offered throughout the year include UTrain, Union Camps, Union Tournaments, and the Player Pathway Program.
UTRAIN
Philadelphia Union provide youth programs and clinics which are designed to provide a series of training sessions that allow the Union to connect with local clubs and the soccer community. The UTrain Program offers programs for all level of players looking to train outside of their club environment. The programs range from beginner to elite level and delivered under the instruction of the Philadelphia Union Youth coaching staff.
UNION CAMPS
Union Youth Soccer Camps are designed for ages 6 to 14 years old. All camps are designed to create a professional & engaging environment for players to learn and improve their game.
PLAYER PATHWAY PROGRAM
The Philadelphia Union Youth Player Pathway Program (PPP) provides supplemental development training (club neutral) by creating a player-centered learning environment for advanced level boys and girls ages U10—U14. The Union Youth is also part of the identification program for the Union Academy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner as a representative of the Philadelphia Union.
- Lead and/or assist trainings within the greater Philadelphia area 1 to 5 times a week, depending on availability and willingness to work. With the exceptions of summer camps and holiday clinics, goalkeeper trainings typically occur within the timeframe of 5-9 pm on weeknights.
- Advise, educate and provide development opportunities to the affiliate clubs.
- Provide the Youth Director with weekly reports on programs directly involved in.
- Oversee onsite programs and manage youth programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
- On-field and Goalkeeper experience - playing and/or coaching.
- Coaching license and/or goalkeeper license - preferred, but not required if candidate shows proficiency in the additional areas below.
- A passion for coaching and developing grassroots level players.
- Strong communications skills and ability to educate.
- Have own transportation.
- Willingness to attend coaching education, learn directly from the Youth Director, and have a growth mindset.
- An ability to think and plan strategically, as well as the ability to adjust on the fly and be autonomous in training sessions.
- A team player, with an ability to operate as part of an integrated multi-functional management team.
- Applicants for employment in the U.S. must possess work authorization, which does not require sponsorship by the employer.
This position requires the following clearances:
- PA Child Abuse History clearance
- PA State Police Criminal Records Check
- An FBI Criminal Background Check
- Safesport Certification
