Job Highlights
- Job Title: Youth Sports Coach
- Location: New York, NY
- Reports To: General Manager
- Hours Required: Part-time, minimum of 15 hours per week including weekends
Position Overview
As a Youth Sports Coach, you will introduce children ages 12 months to 8 years old to the fundamentals of multiple sports, including baseball, basketball, flag football, floor hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball. Using the Kids in Sports curriculum, you will create a fun, safe, and energetic environment where kids can develop skills, build confidence, and cultivate a healthy attitude toward competition.
Your Game Plan
Coaching & Instruction (70%)
- Assist with multi-sport and sport-specific classes.
- Provide feedback and encouragement during activities.
- Guide children in learning skills while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
Energy & Environment (20%)
- Consistently set an energetic, enthusiastic, and positive tone.
- Create an engaging environment for kids and families.
Support & Communication (10%)
- Communicate effectively with caregivers, teammates, and supervisors.
- Assist with off-site teaching environments as needed.
What You Bring to the Pitch
- Positive, outgoing, and self-motivated personality.
- Strong communication skills with confidence engaging both children and caregivers.
- Passion for sports and working with children.
- Team player with the ability to learn and follow curriculum standards.
- Experience coaching or working with children ages 12 months–8 years preferred.
- Willingness to work at least one weekend day per week.
- Ability to travel locally for off-site teaching as needed.
