Position Overview:
The Head Athletic Trainer, will play a critical role in providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services to players. In collaboration with coaching and medical staff, the Head Athletic Trainer will uphold the highest standards of player care and well-being, contributing to the overall success of the club.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage player healthcare, including first aid, emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, and the application of appropriate modalities.
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation and prevention programs for players.
  • Electronically document injury reports, medical diagnoses, treatment plans, and return-to-play protocols in the Healthy Roster system.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens.
  • Order, maintain, and inventory medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized training room and clinic area.
  • Manage player health and participation records, ensuring timely updates in the electronic medical record system.
  • Coordinate and document insurance/worker’s compensation claims for players.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by the USL
  • Organize and conduct physical examinations in accordance with USL regulations.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to assistant trainers, aides, and volunteers.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with players, coaches, and staff to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Comply with all USL medical policies, protocols, and Game Operations Manual.
  • Advise players on dietary needs, nutritional supplements, and League/FIFA banned substances.
  • Participate in community service initiatives and educational programs related to sports medicine.
  • Attend and participate in USL meetings and programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
  • State licensure in Florida
  • Current professional CPR certification.
  • Personal professional liability insurance.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (4 years) from an accredited college/university.
  • A Master’s degree in a related healthcare field or licensure as a physical therapist is a plus.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer, ideally with soccer or team sports.
  • Experience working with elite athletes in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in professional soccer is preferred.
  • Passion for the success of Women’s Professional Sports and a strong desire to contribute to an exciting and evolving sports landscape.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings, and potentially holidays, in alignment with game schedules.
