Ravenscroft School seeks a Boys Soccer Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in developing and guiding our student-athletes. This role assists with skill instruction, practice execution, and fostering a positive, competitive team environment rooted in sportsmanship and character development. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of soccer, experience working with youth or adolescent athletes, and a commitment to the academic and athletic mission of Ravenscroft School. 

This is a seasonal, part-time coaching position supporting the Ravenscroft's fall Boys Soccer program. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Coaching and Player Development

  • Assists the Head Coach in instructing and demonstrating skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement.
  • Assists with the implementation of training programs, practice plans, and game preparation as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, character development, and respect among student-athletes.
  • Supports the Head Coach in identifying individual player development opportunities and providing constructive feedback.

Student-Athlete Supervision and Safety

  • Supports the supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices, contests, and team activities.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate behavior and discipline of student-athletes in accordance with school and team expectations.
  • Assists with the supervision of students in locker rooms at home and away contests.
  • Monitors student-athlete safety and reports injuries, concerns, or incidents promptly to the Head Coach.

Operations and Administration

  • Assists with the cleaning, storage, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Assists with game-day operations, including setup, breakdown, transportation logistics, and team travel.
  • Enforces all School policies while at home and away contests.
  • Enforces North Carolina seat belt laws and complies with all driving regulations when transporting students.
  • Attends required meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department functions.
  • Reports concerns, problems, or situations promptly to the Head Coach.
  • Communicates effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school personnel while supporting the philosophy and goals established by the Head Coach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of soccer and fundamental coaching principles.
  • Experience working with adolescents and the ability to serve as a positive role model.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and take direction effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to assist with additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Must successfully complete all school, conference, and state-required coaching certifications and training.

Preferred

  • Previous experience coaching or playing baseball at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
  • CDL with school bus endorsement, or willingness to obtain if requested.
  • Experience working in a K–12 or independent school environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: School-based environment with regular presence on Ravenscroft’s athletic fields and facilities. Travel to away contests is required. This is a seasonal position covering the fall sports season (approximately August–November). Evening and weekend availability is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Active physical participation, including demonstrating drills and remaining on feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout campus and athletic facilities.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
