Position Overview
Tampa Bay Sun FC is seeking a Communications Manager to strengthen our voice across media and public relations. This role will serve as the direct link between the club, local and national media, and our fans. The individual will drive consistent storytelling, manage media relations, and ensure the Sun’s presence is elevated across press, broadcast, and digital channels.

This position requires a professional with exceptional organizational skills, a sharp editorial eye, and a passion for women’s sports. The role balances both strategy and execution, ranging from pitching stories to writing weekly game notes.

Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Coverage
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, credential requests, and interview scheduling.
  • Pitch stories to local, national, and global media outlets to increase coverage of the Sun, our players and staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, broadcasters, and podcast hosts.

Game Notes & Press Materials
  • Author and distribute weekly game notes packages to media, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compelling storytelling.
  • Draft, edit, and publish official club press releases, news articles, and media advisories.
  • Maintain and update media resources, including fact sheets, bios, and statistical records.

Events & Press Logistics
  • Coordinate press conferences, media tours, and post-match interview sessions with players and coaches.
  • Organize appearances across television, radio, and podcasts, ensuring seamless scheduling and preparation.
  • Support the execution of major announcements, launches, and community events with media integration.
Digital & Editorial Content
  • Publish news articles and press updates to the club’s website and distribute through digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with marketing and social teams to align media coverage with broader campaigns.
  • Track and analyze media mentions, providing insights to leadership on visibility and impact.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experience in sports communications, media relations, or journalism preferred.
  • Must be able to pass all background and safeguarding checks.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling ability with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends, and match days.

Scope & Level
  • Communications Manager: Strategic leadership, media planning, spokesperson responsibilities, management of communications interns, match day photo marshals, match day stats.
  • Communications Coordinator: Tactical execution, writing, scheduling, day-to-day media requests, reporting.
