THE POSITION Sitting within the Operations Department (alongside Fan Operations, Venue Management, Team Services, Media Operations, Broadcast Operations, Catering and Competition Management), Dressing and Signage aims to deliver the most outstanding look and feel project in event history.
Reporting to the Head of Dressing and Signage with day-to-day oversight from the Functional Signage and Commodities Manager, the Functional Signage Coordinator will be a fundamental member of the team responsible for delivering the Dressing and Signage project for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Functional Signage (alternatively known as Functional Area Signage or FA Signage) refers to signage that individual departments within FIFA26 require for their spaces and facilities to operate during the event. Functional Signage can be used to designate rooms and spaces, and display operationally necessary information at all official sites of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Functional Signage program at FIFA World Cup 2026 also includes Dressing Commodities ( alternatively known as āKit of Partsā or āKOPā items) which are standard dressing items that can be ordered by functional areas in order to support the delivery of their function or to enhance the look of a space they are responsible for. Dressing examples include, but are not exclusive to: freestanding backdrops, event branded table skirts and cloths, flags and banners which may also contain functional information. In addition, custom, non-KOP treatments may also be ordered if deemed necessary and within agreed service level limits.
The coordinator will work in tandem with the Senior Dressing and Signage Manager and the Functional Signage and Commodities Manager to ensure that the multiple functional areas across the FIFA26 and their associated teams record all of their functional signage requirements accurately. In addition, they will work with the Language Services team to ensure that all Functional Signage is translated to the necessary languages and work with the design team to ensure all functional signage and dressing commodities are designed in line with Brand guidelines. They will also work with the appointed signage suppliers to ensure that all requirements are produced and delivered to all FIFA World Cup and FIFA World Cup official sites in a timely manner and to agreed deadlines.
The role requires a high attention to detail and would suit a tenacious individual who enjoys working in close collaboration with people from across an organization. The role is heavily weighted towards data collation and would suit a candidate from a project-based background, with no specific requirement for this to be within events or signage - although such experience or skills would be advantageous.
The main responsibilities for the Functional Area Signage Coordinator will be:
- Contributing to the delivery of a world class dressing and signage project for all target groups attending matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
- Collating all FIFA World Cup 2026 functional signage and dressing commodity requirements in collaboration with the functional areas from across the organization. Assisting the Functional Area Signage manager with all FA requests.
- Operating the functional signage and dressing commodity requirements content management system and ensuring all information provided is consistent and correct.
- Liaison with appointed suppliers to ensure FIFA World Cup 2026 meet all production deadlines for functional signage and dressing commodities.
- Facilitating the appointed suppliers to deliver, and where necessary install all functional signage and dressing commodities as per the requested timelines.
- Quality control of printed products to ensure they are meeting the agreed standards.
- Deputizing for the FA Signage Manager as point of contact for all Dressing and Signage team members with regards to their functional area commodity and signage questions as and when necessary.
- Liaison with Language Services Department to add items to the glossary as per the requests from the functional areas. Terms will be received in English (US) and translated to Spanish (Mexican), French (Canadian) and English (UK)
- Proofing of functional signage artwork including checking wording matches that in the glossary in the required languages.
- Carry out day to day tasks as requested by the FA Signage Manager or other senior members of the team.
- Contributing to Dressing and Signage team meetings as and when required.
- Possible relocation to a Host City for up to three months in to act as a Dressing and Signage Venue Manager at an allocated stadium.

Education & Qualifications
- University degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education) preferred

Work Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in a project or data management role or within event delivery. The role will suit someone looking to take their first role in major events.
- An understanding of the technical aspects of signage will be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
- Experience working with contracted suppliers an advantage
- Experience in the delivery of operational plans
Languages
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus
Technology
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools.
- The role will require extensive use of the appointed Dressing and Signage Supplier(s) project, content and scoping management systems so a readiness to learn new technology processes, systems and programs is essential.
