THE POSITION
Main Activities and Responsibilities

Reporting organisationally to the FIFA26 CAN Manager, Host City Operations, the Host City Operations Coordinator will be a key member of the Vancouver venue office team. This role will be crucial in supporting various operational and management assignments to ensure successful and seamless hosting of the event in Vancouver. They will function as one of FIFA26 CAN key representatives in liaising with the Vancouver Host City Committee while also coordinating across a variety of internal functional areas.  

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Coordinator, Host City Operations for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ include:  
  • Liaise with all FIFA 26 functional areas including Stadium & Facility Management, Operational Services, Commercial Operations, Integration and Planning, Safety & Security as well as a multitude of other areas to ensure the smooth, efficient and effective operation at the Host City for all stakeholders. 
  • Establish relationships and maintain effective communication channels with Host City stakeholders including facilities and local authorities, addressing their needs and concerns while ensuring compliance with FIFA Regulations and Guidelines. 
  • Responsible for tracking all planning and operations associated with the Host Cities and providing status updates and other timely reporting. 
  • Schedule, develop the agenda for and participate in regular meetings and workshops with Host Cities. 
  • Administrative and operational support for the FIFA26 CAN Vancouver venue office. 
  • Prepare official communications (including letters, emails, presentations, etc.) on Host City operations, including announcements to inform stakeholders.  
  • Support the Host Cities’ delivery of facilities, key sites and services on time, at a world-class level and consistent with the requirements. 
  • Contribute to project and knowledge management initiatives including event debriefs and documentation activities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  
  • Travel within Canada, to the US and/or Mexico may be required to reflect the business needs of the department (meetings, workshops, site visits, other Events, etc). 
  • This role requires you to be onsite 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) at our Vancouver Office.

Education 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar level of education in Business Administration, Sport Administration, etc. 
Work Experience & Qualifications 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in major event operations or administration. 
  • Proven track-record in managing complex projects. 
  • Strong knowledge of event planning and management processes. 
  • Client oriented, efficient and effective, with a strong proven record of creating organizational cultures of collaboration. 
  • Capacity to take and disseminate directions and decisions. 
  • Be able to cope in an international, demanding and changing environment. 
  • Be able to adapt and work well with people of other cultures and backgrounds. 
  • The following strengths: collaboration, organization, multi-tasking, excellent communication skills, and positive relationship management skills. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar designation would be considered a benefit. 
  • Experience working with or knowledge of Vancouver is a plus. 
Languages 
  • Fluent in English. French proficiency is a plus. 
Technology 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools. 
  • Experience with Monday.com and WeTrack is a benefit.
