Awarded Major League Soccer’s 16th franchise in 2008, the Philadelphia Union officially took the pitch in 2010 and have been raising expectations ever since. ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Philadelphia Union is seeking an energetic and collaborative Coordinator, Marketing and Fan Engagement to amplify the Union brand throughout Philadelphia and the greater designated market area. This role is pivotal in building community relationships, generating leads for Phang’s Kids Club, and creating access to the game and brand to drive fandom. The Coordinator will help develop and execute the Club’s grassroots marketing and fan engagement strategy, working across all business functions while primarily collaborating with Community Relations, Digital & Social, Partnerships, and Ticket Sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grassroots Operations
- Build and manage an event schedule of 75+ events annually, focusing on youth soccer, marquee Philadelphia events, and community activations.
- Secure event locations and manage day-to-day calendar and overarching strategy.
- Arrange all materials and equipment (giveaways, sponsorship items, Kids Club materials, intern crew supplies, etc.).
- Actively seek and schedule new event opportunities for Union involvement.
- Hire, schedule, and communicate with Event Operations interns; manage availability.
- Coordinate Union player requests for events and prepare necessary materials for appearances.
- Ideate and order promotional premiums/giveaways for the marketing department.
- Collaborate with Manager, Marketing to enhance Standard Operating Procedures for event setup.
Event Management
- Communicate logistics and event details with contacts, sponsors, and partners.
- Work with Digital and Social teams to ensure content capture and posting plans.
- Train interns on event procedures and key talking points.
- Educate patrons about the Union brand and ticket offerings.
Fan Engagement
- Lead Phang’s Kids Club programming and events, maintaining communication via newsletter and app.
- Support execution of season-long Fan Engagement Strategy.
- Develop at least one new tentpole Union event annually.
- Ideate fan engagement opportunities through the Union App in collaboration with Digital, Partnerships, and BI teams.
- Assist with Union initiatives around MLS is Back, Playoffs, and World Cup celebrations.
- Support Pub Partnership program and Watch Party initiatives.
Game Day Responsibilities
- Collaborate on plaza enhancements for 2026.
- Oversee execution of theme night activations and manage 3rd-party vendors.
- Determine plaza layout for home games in collaboration with Marketing, Game Ops, and Partnerships.
- Own three theme night strategies during the season.
- Schedule interns for plaza activities and assist Game Ops with promotions and on-field experiences.
- Interact with fans at Union tables, distribute prizes, and promote upcoming events.
- Maintain inventory and organization of Union assets between events and games.
Other Tasks
- Assist with programming and setup of Subaru Esports Hub and Union Esports Camps.
- Write copy for gameday radio reads.
- Support retail collaboration campaigns and launch events.
- Oversee marketing vehicle maintenance and inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing, Event Marketing, or Sports Management preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience in marketing and/or event management.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work nights and weekends.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Street team management experience.
- Brand ambassador experience.
- Kids Club management experience.
- Knowledge of Philadelphia sports, youth soccer, and event landscape.
- Experience working with mascots.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
