Role Overview
The Performance Optimization & Player Development Coach will lead all facets of player physical performance at Brooklyn FC. This includes performance analysis, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning, and the integration of sports science to support elite athletic development. Working closely with the coaching and medical staff, this role is central to optimizing player readiness, recovery, and long-term development.
Key Responsibilities:
Performance Planning & Player Support
  • Oversee all aspects of player performance, including performance analysis, sports nutrition, sports science integration, and individualized strength and conditioning programs.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to design and implement annual training plans (macrocycles and microcycles) that align with the team’s competitive calendar and performance goals.
  • Deliver consistent performance reporting:
    • Daily Readiness Reports with recommendations for adjustments based on physical status.
    • Weekly Summaries outlining individual and team trends, performance metrics, and suggested modifications.
Strategic Vision & Department Leadership
  • Develop and maintain a long-term performance strategy aligned with the club’s philosophy and playing style.
  • Lead and mentor the performance team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.
  • Define department goals and oversee their execution using the latest sports science and performance research.
  • Build strong working relationships with the coaching staff, medical department, and club leadership to ensure aligned performance initiatives across all levels.
Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
  • Work closely with the medical team to design and monitor rehabilitation programs to support safe and efficient return-to-play timelines.
  • Create and implement individualized development plans for players targeting specific physical goals.
  • Develop and enforce injury prevention and recovery protocols for training and competition periods.
Team Development & Operational Compliance
  • Identify professional development needs and provide support and opportunities for continued education and growth within the performance team.
  • Address underperformance within the department through clear feedback and structured improvement plans.
  • Ensure full compliance with organizational policies, health and safety standards, and any league/regulatory guidelines.
Additional Duties
  • Provide support on various tasks as requested by the Head Coach or Sporting Director.
  • Remain flexible and proactive in contributing to the overall success and daily operations of Brooklyn FC.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sports Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in a related discipline is highly preferred, especially for leadership roles.
    • USSF Coaching Licenses (C/B/A) 
  2. Certifications (at least one or more of the following):
    • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) – National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
    • Certified Performance and Sport Scientist – like ISSN, UKSCA, or ASCA.
    • FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine 
  3. Experience:
    • Minimum of 3–5 years working in  a professional soccer/football environment.
    • Experience with GPS tracking systems, force plates, wellness monitoring, and video/performance software (e.g., Catapult, STATSports, Kinduct, VALD).
    • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with coaching and medical staff to influence player readiness and performance
