Job Description

We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced Freelance PR Associate to amplify our visibility—securing local media buzz in San Diego and nationwide media coverage as the we build momentum around the World Cup. You’ll craft narratives, manage media outreach, and shape public perception across traditional and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic PR plan—tailored for local San Diego outlets and national media—including storytelling, press kits, and media pitches.
  • Build and nurture contacts with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media decision-makers relevant to sports, events, community culture, and the World Cup sphere.
  • Coordinate interviews, write and distribute press releases, and coach the leadership or spokespeople in media engagements.
  • Manage social media amplification in collaboration with marketing, ensuring PR coverage is shared and celebrated.
  • Monitor and report on PR performance—tracking coverage, media sentiment, and campaign impact.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven PR experience—preferably for sports, events, or community activations.
  • Existing local media relationships in San Diego (print, broadcast, digital).
  • Strong national media network or proven success in securing national coverage.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and pitch-crafting ability.
  • Comfortable with media training and high-energy spokesperson engagement.
  • Self-starter with excellent project management—able to juggle multiple deliverables, deadlines, and geographic scopes.

  • Location: Primarily remote—but based in or very familiar with San Diego (for local outreach)
  • Duration: Starting December 2025 through July 2026
  • Compensation: To be negotiated based on deliverables, campaign scope, and experience.
