JV Head Coach - Boys Soccer

POSITION TYPE: Seasonal
CONTRACT STATUS: Temporary Position (renewable one-year contract)
PAY: for the 2026-2027 school year ranges from $4,648 to 5,626, based on verifiable prior paid experience at this age level
PURPOSE: Under the direction of the head coach, teaches and coaches student-athletes who desire to excel in Boys Soccer and provides them with the opportunity to develop knowledge, skill, and performance in a positive, supportive environment.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Athletic Director, David Holcomb (david.holcomb@nssd29j.org), Principal, Jamie McCarty (jamie.mccarty@nssd29j.org), and the head coach.

Assigned Responsibilities:
- Assists in organized, supervised practice as the program requires
- Teaches all of the skills necessary to participate in the sport
- Teaches the strategies necessary to participate in the sport
- Teaches drills and exercises to develop strength, stamina, and speed in the sport
- Assists in the development of seasonal goals and objectives and daily practice plans
- Assists in the development of lines of communication with parents, press, officials, and booster clubs to promote the sport
- Supervises locker room before and after practice, as required
- Supervises bus trips, as required
- Adheres to Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) rules and regulations, Oregon West Conference SOPs, and Stayton High School/District policies
- Follows specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and District
- Actively encourages student participation
- Promotes the ethical values of athletics
- Maintains positive working relationships with the head coach, administration, other staff, and the community to enhance the sport
- Assists with the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed
- Promotes the concept of sportsmanship
- Develops positive health and safety standards for all program athletes
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Previous coaching experience is preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work positively with students, staff, and parents
- Must encourage and understand the benefits of students participating in multiple sports
- Possess the following certifications:
- OSAA/NFHS Coaching Certification
- Concussion Recognition & Management, Heat Illness Prevention, Anabolic Steroids & Performance Enhancing Substances, and Interrupting & Preventing Discriminatory Acts Training
- Medical & First Aid Certifications
- First Aid & CPR and Severe Allergy & EpiPen Training
- Complete District safety trainings
- Safe Schools Trainings
- Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Child Abuse: Identification & Intervention, NSSD Mandatory Reporting Information, NSSD Professional Conduct Between Adults & Students, NSSD Seizure Training, PSA: Bullying and Hazing, Sex Abuse Prevention Training, and Student Alcohol & Substance Misuse & Abuse
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication skills, and a high level of ethical behavior
- Must be punctual and have regular attendance.
