Corpus Christi FC is a professional soccer organization affiliated with the United Soccer League (USL). The USL Championship and USL League One make up the largest professional men’s soccer league in the United States. Corpus Christi FC is based out of South Texas, an untapped soccer hotbed of Texas with thousands of youth players and many thousands more supporting the game at all levels. Corpus Christi FC in partnership with Next Sports Company LLC is developing a 5,000-seat soccer specific-stadium as part of a world class multi-sports facility that will be ready by January 2025 for its inaugural season as a professional team in March 2025. 
Position Summary: 
 
Lead the First Team Head Coaching duties within the high-performance demands and Sporting strategy of professional team. The Sporting Director / Head Coach will be someone who can maintain positivity and calm within the team setting to ensure that motivation and buy-in from the players remains high. Maintaining a team-oriented environment where individual professional development is paramount and can inspire, delegate, and motivate others. 

The Sporting Director/ Head Coach provides leadership and clear direction to the Soccer Departments of the club (First Team, Academy) as well as implements strategy to ensure the club continues to meet and exceed goals and KPI’s within these departments. 
Responsible for executing the overall Sporting strategic plan of the Club within the First Team. 
 
Responsibilities:  
  • Leads First Team ensuring implementation of Sporting Department philosophy, game model and achievement of team goals 
  • Works in conjunction with technical staff in roster building and player signings, sales, and loans 
  • Manages the player roster and positional depth chart 
  • Develops and executes training sessions with technical staff 
  • Evaluates matches and individual players. Executes coach and player development across the First Team through regular feedback and evaluation via CDP’s and IDP’s and includes written assessments, feedback to players and staff, and recommendations for team & individual development 
  • Provides guidance and oversite in scouting, recruitment, orientation, evaluation of players 
  • Consistently look for ways to improve strategies, processes, and procedures to increase player care and maximize resources. Ensures safety standards and best practices are always followed 
  • Travel as needed for matches, player scouting, identification, and recruitment 
  • Works in tandem with performance staff, and medical staff, team administrator, and equipment manager Creating the conditions for an optimal on and off-the-field performance for players, coaches, and staff 
  • Oversee the soccer department for the First Team and Academy  
  • Oversee First Team Player Contracts and Management of Player Budget 
  • Responsible for directly leading First Team staff in the areas of:  Technical, Performance, Medical, and Operations 
  • Oversee and support Talent ID/Recruitment for the First Team and Academy 
  • Developing scouting strategies and relationships with other clubs, agents, and players 
  • Serve as a member of the Academy Technical Board (if applicable) 
  • Responsible for updates on areas of responsibilities to Club Leadership/Ownership 
  • Serve as a Member of the Executive Management Team (if applicable) 
  • Provide assistance in the business operations of First Team (Commercial, Sales, Marketing, and Communications) 
  • Attend Company community events, charity events, sponsor events and other events as reasonably mandated by club management and ownership, 
  • Participate in training sessions and speaking engagements with club related programs and player development affiliates, 
  • Participate in regular speaking engagements, press conferences, and public appearances to promote the team via external communications with media and internal communications with marketing staff 
  • Always represent the club and its related affiliates in a professional manner 
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned. 
Key Qualifications: 
 
  • USSF Pro/A or equivalent, 5-7 years of experience in coaching elite players 
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in related field preferred 
  • Demonstrated ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer 
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and educate players and coaching staff 
  • Lead professionally, respectfully, resourcefully, while maintaining a strong work ethic 
  • Ability to identify and recruit talent 
  • Calm under pressure 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational and personnel management skills 
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission  
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task effectively
