Something exciting is happening with the Chicago Stars and in women’s professional soccer. With new ownership and a best-in-class leadership team, Chicago Stars FC is entering a new era. A founding member of the NWSL, the club is capitalizing on the growth and momentous shift happening in professional women’s sports.
The Chicago Stars are transforming Chicago, and we’re looking for a transformational HR leader to collaboratively drive the culture and employee experience in our organization. You will serve as a strategic thought partner with executive leadership and be responsible for the people and culture strategies for the Chicago Stars. This role will develop, direct and execute the strategy, policies, programs, processes and initiatives necessary to deliver on organizational people strategies and ensure legal compliance as well as provide oversight and direction to human resources team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate maturity, self-awareness, empathy and a high degree of confidentiality when handling all day-to-day matters, which include talent management, program and systems management, employee relations and engagement, compensation and benefits administration as well as driving organizational culture and change. This role will also serve as our Player Safety Officer, which is a critical role that ensures league compliance, education and training, and policy development. 
 
Key Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in employee experience, organizational development, or HR roles with a track record of leading culture-forward strategy & execution. 
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, with a demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and retain high performing talent.
  • Demonstrated experience being a leader in transformational change and establishing oneself as a trusted advisor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field, preferred; or combination of years of experience and education. 
  • Proven success developing and implementing performance management, engagement, and learning systems that enable business outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect people strategies to operational and enterprise goals.
  • Thorough working knowledge of employment law, including hiring practices, EEO, wage and hour laws, etc.
  • Experience conducting investigations into highly sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Highly collaborative, able to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends and game/match days.
  • Preferred: Bi-lingual or multi-lingual, a plus; Experience in professional sports, hospitality, entertainment a plus; Strong familiarity with immigration and the visa process, preferred.

The salary range for this role is $145k-$155k, and is bonus eligible. This is not a remote position.
