Position:
The Vice President, Information Technology is part of the IT department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Position Summary:
Minnesota United FC is looking for a Vice President, Information Technology to lead our IT operations and strategy, ensuring our information systems perform at a world-class level.
As a key leader within the organization, you’ll oversee the day-to-day delivery of critical IT services, drive innovation, and safeguard the infrastructure that powers every part of our Club. You'll play a central role within the organization as you collaborate across various teams, build scalable systems, and champion a security-first, people-centered approach.

What You’ll Do:
Strategic Planning
- Spearhead and lead the strategic roadmap for IT initiatives, driving innovation and long-term impact.
- Collaborate with leadership from other departments to identify and drive high-impact digital initiatives and strategic investments aligning with long-term innovation goals and organizational priorities.
- Define and track impactful IT goals and objectives using key performance metrics aligned with Club priorities.
- Prepare and manage IT budget for the Club.
Risk Management and Security
- Define and implement Information Security Policy & Procedures for the Club staff, vendors and contractors.
- Design and implement robust business protocols to safeguard operations against disruptions or data loss.
- Champion the protection of enterprise systems, networks, and data through proactive security oversight.
- Lead IT security audits and investigations to maintain a resilient and secure technology environment.
Stadium Technology Oversight
- Act as the Club’s primary point of contact for Stadium-related technology and interface with external partners, including third-party IT providers and Major League Soccer. Coordinate and direct third-party IT providers to mitigate IT issues.
- Identify and execute technology strategies to support private stadium events and major non-soccer events, ensuring all technical requirements are effectively met.
Vendor Management and Collaboration
- Partner with the Club’s third-party IT providers to lead and oversee IT implementation, ensuring contract alignment and seamless execution of infrastructure, systems, and service delivery across all operations.
- Work with Major League Soccer’s IT and Infrastructure departments to ensure full compliance with League standards and support infrastructure projects implemented by the League
Performance Optimization
- Evaluate IT systems and infrastructure to optimize costs and boost productivity.
- Prepare IT lifecycle process to keep the infrastructure current across all locations of the Club.
- Identify and leverage emerging information technologies to drive innovation across the organization.
- Mentor IT Manager and implement operational efficiencies while leveraging process and tools.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience: Over 10 years of hands-on experience in Information Technology across diverse environments.
- Strategic Thinking: Anticipates emerging trends and develops forward-looking technology strategies that support sustainable business growth.
- Technical Experience: Demonstrates deep knowledge of IT systems and cybersecurity best practices, with direct experience managing networks for large public venues. Proficient in Aruba networks, VMware server environments, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Leadership: Inspires and empowers teams by mentoring talent, fostering collaboration, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.
- Risk Management: Identifies potential threats and implements robust safeguards to ensure operational continuity and cybersecurity readiness.
- Decision Making: Applies data, industry insights, and sound judgment to make informed decisions aligned with both immediate priorities and long-term strategic goals.
- Collaboration: Builds strong relationships across the organization, partnering effectively with executive leadership and key stakeholders to drive alignment and results.

Compensation and Benefits:
Minnesota United FC values the contributions of our team members and is committed to transparency in our compensation practices. The compensation range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 annually, with the final offer based on experience and qualifications. We provide a competitive benefits package that includes health coverage, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and additional perks to support you both personally and professionally.
