About Birmingham Legion FC:
Birmingham Legion FC is Alabama’s professional soccer team, competing in the USL Championship—the second division of American soccer. Established in 2018, Legion FC is committed to delivering an exciting, family-friendly fan experience while making a meaningful impact in the Birmingham community.
We are seeking a passionate and driven Director of Promotions to lead the planning and execution of all promotional campaigns, theme nights, and in-game activations that excite fans and elevate the Legion FC matchday experience.
Position Summary:
The Director of Promotions is responsible for the development and implementation of all promotional initiatives that enhance fan engagement and drive attendance. This includes planning themed matchdays, giveaways, community activations, and in-game entertainment. The ideal candidate is highly creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a strong background in live event marketing or sports promotions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a season-long promotional calendar, including theme nights, giveaways, and ticket promotions.
  • Lead creative development and logistics for in-game promotions, fan contests, and on-field entertainment.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Partnerships, and Ticketing teams to align promotions with business goals and sponsor objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of game day promotional execution, including coordination with the production team, PA announcer, mascot, and fan engagement staff.
  • Support community marketing initiatives by identifying and executing grassroots promotional opportunities.
  • Seek, plan, and execute community facing events throughout Birmingham that present both goodwill and and the Legion FC brand in a positive light
  • Ensure high-quality fan experience and consistent brand messaging across all promotional activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in sports, live entertainment, or event promotions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Creative thinker who can bring fresh ideas to engage fans and enhance the stadium atmosphere.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed during the season.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CRM and ticketing platforms (SeatGeek, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the Birmingham market and local audience.
  • Background in game presentation or live event production is a plus.
