JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for performing the daily functions of the accounting cycle for D.C. United and its subsidiaries and affiliates (including Audi Field and DC Power Football Club). The Staff Accountant will process accounting transactions related to maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and proactive in identifying and avoiding potential problems while recommending improvements to internal processes.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000/year

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives and reviews day-to-day invoices, subcontracts, check requests, and/or other related documentation for completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures, budget, and contractual requirements.
  • Processes payments into the Mineral Tree payment system.
  • Prepares general ledger entries.
  • Maintains asset and liability rollforward schedules (including intercompany)
  • Maintains revenue recognition schedules for ticket sales, sponsorships, and other revenue streams
  • Updates cash journals with daily activity.
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes (including accruals).
  • Assists in the annual audit by providing requested documents, researching variances, and responding to questions.
  • Perform a wide range of accounting and administrative duties to support the accounting department. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Selected candidate must pass a background check

REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in a career in corporate accounting.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor�s degree in accounting including course work related to corporate accounting

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 0 to 3 years of corporate accounting experience

COMPETENCIES (KSAs)

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting/ERP software
  • A team player who demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage workstreams on strict deadlines

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

  • Open office layout. Desk job in a typical/indoors office environment, with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
