POSITION OVERVIEW
The Last Mile Deputy Manager supports the planning, coordination, and live execution of all Last Mile operations during FIFA World Cup 2026™ events in Kansas City.
Working under the direction of the Last Mile Manager, this role assists in managing the final stage of the spectator journey—from transport drop-off points such as bus malls, Park & Ride sites, and rideshare zones through to venue entry points.
The Deputy Manager plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient pedestrian flow, effective wayfinding, and seamless coordination between transport, security, and venue teams, helping deliver a positive and well-managed spectator experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Last Mile Operations Support
• Assist in the implementation and delivery of the Last Mile Operations Plan across assigned zones.
Pedestrian Flow Management
• Support the management of high-volume pedestrian movement between transport hubs and venue entrances.
Team Supervision
• Supervise Last Mile Supervisors, marshals, and support staff across key walking routes and spectator corridors.
Wayfinding & Infrastructure Oversight
• Ensure proper placement and maintenance of signage, barriers, fencing, lighting, and wayfinding systems.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Coordinate with Transport, Security, Volunteers, Guest Services, and Venue Operations teams.
Client Group Management
• Assist in managing the separation and movement of different FIFA client groups in line with access protocols.
Operational Monitoring
• Monitor real-time conditions, identify congestion points, and implement crowd control or re-routing measures.
Accessibility Coordination
• Support accessibility services and ensure inclusive movement for spectators with mobility needs.
Incident & Contingency Management
• Respond to operational issues such as congestion, safety risks, or service disruptions and escalate as needed.
Reporting & Documentation
• Maintain operational logs, incident reports, and provide daily updates to the Last Mile Manager.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Strong understanding of pedestrian flow management and crowd dynamics in large event environments.
• Experience in managing operations across Last Mile routes, transport hubs, and venue access points.
• Knowledge of wayfinding strategies and spectator behavior patterns.
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate multi-agency operations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in real-time scenarios.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with ADA accessibility standards and inclusive service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in event operations, transport logistics, crowd management, or venue operations.
• Experience supporting large-scale international events or major sporting events is highly desirable.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in field operations is preferred.
• Fluency in English required; multilingual or bilingual ability is considered an advantage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Field-based operational role across Last Mile routes, transport hubs, and venue access areas.
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Long shifts during match days, test events, and tournament operations.
• Required to wear high-visibility PPE and follow safety procedures.
• High interaction with spectators, staff, and operational stakeholders.
