POSITION OVERVIEW
The LATMP Venue Deputy Manager supports the planning and operational execution of the Local Area Transport Management Plan (LATMP) for a designated FIFA World Cup 2026™ venue in Kansas City.
Working under the direction of the LATMP Venue Manager, this role assists with managing restricted traffic areas, vehicle access control, temporary road closures, and stakeholder coordination. The Deputy Manager helps ensure the safe and efficient movement of spectators, FIFA client groups, operational vehicles, and local residents within high-traffic zones surrounding the venue.
This position requires strong operational awareness, effective coordination with law enforcement and city agencies, and the ability to manage real-time traffic conditions in a dynamic event environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
LATMP Operational Support
• Assist in the implementation and management of the Local Area Transport Management Plan (LATMP) for assigned venues.
Traffic Control Operations
• Supervise restricted area operations including road closures, vehicle checkpoints, and traffic signage deployment.
Access Control Enforcement
• Support the enforcement of Vehicle Access & Parking Permit (VAPP) systems and vehicle screening protocols.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Coordinate with KCPD, city agencies, security teams, transport marshals, and FIFA operational teams.
Vehicle Movement Management
• Manage the movement of authorized vehicles such as tournament buses, service vehicles, deliveries, and emergency services.
Traffic Flow Monitoring
• Monitor traffic flow, vehicle queuing, and incident response procedures across critical access routes.
Field Team Supervision
• Support the training, scheduling, and supervision of LATMP marshals and traffic control staff.
Operational Communications
• Provide real-time operational updates and situational reports to the LATMP Venue Manager and Transport Operations Centre (TOC).
Community Coordination
• Engage with local residents, businesses, and stakeholders to address access concerns and maintain operational awareness.
Transport Network Integration
• Ensure LATMP operations are aligned with the Tournament Route Network (TRN) and broader city traffic management strategies.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Strong understanding of local traffic regulations, road management, and temporary event traffic plans.
• Familiarity with FIFA client group transport policies and vehicle access hierarchies.
• Ability to interpret and enforce traffic restrictions in live operational environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills in real-time operational situations.
• Excellent communication skills when coordinating with law enforcement, drivers, city partners, and operational teams.
• Knowledge of Vehicle Access & Parking Permit (VAPP) systems and checkpoint operations.
• Familiarity with traffic signage placement and temporary traffic control infrastructure.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate small operational field teams.
• Strong situational awareness in high-pressure event environments.
• Basic operational reporting and incident documentation skills.
• Familiarity with Kansas City road networks and venue transport layouts is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of ADA transport protocols and accessible vehicle operations is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in traffic management, event operations, or transport logistics.
• Experience supporting large-scale sporting events, stadium operations, or public mobility programs is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating with public safety agencies, operational teams, and transport partners.
• Fluency in English is required; multilingual or bilingual ability is considered an advantage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Field-based operational role within high-traffic areas surrounding FIFA venues.
• Combination of operational planning and real-time traffic management.
• Long shifts during match days, operational rehearsals, and tournament preparation phases.
• Frequent interaction with law enforcement, operational staff, and public stakeholders.
